What is in it
65 preparations, each with grams of matcha, millilitres of water, temperature and whisk time recorded as numbers; a directory of 32 producers; a 45 term glossary; 14 long-form guides; and 18 technique cards. Three calculators handle the ratio, the caffeine and the cost per cup, and a brew journal records what you make. The journal stays on your device.
Where the figures come from
The recipes, glossary and cards are the almanac's own dataset. A producer entry records a company's name, country, region and founding year and links to the producer's own site, with nofollow and no affiliate code. Caffeine and L-theanine are a flat 34 mg and 25 mg per gram of powder, so every total they produce is an estimate, and the page says so beside it.
Who makes it
Matcha Almanac is run by one independent developer, not a company or a tea business. The same developer publishes HerbMate, PantrySwap, FiberTally, and ProteinTally, each about one kitchen or wellness subject. Guides carry the Matcha Almanac name rather than a personal byline; the page markup lists the Matcha Almanac organization as author. No tea ceremony certification, school of chado or trade background is claimed. Dates on the guides mark the last time their text was changed. If a guide and a recipe card disagree, trust the card and write in.
What this almanac will not tell you
- Whether matcha is right for you. The caffeine and L-theanine figures are general estimates; the real amount moves with cultivar, grade, harvest and how much of the bowl you drink. If you are pregnant, on medication, managing a condition or sensitive to caffeine, ask a clinician who knows you.
- That it will improve your health. Nothing here claims matcha prevents, treats or improves anything.
- How to practise tea ceremony. The cards cover a good bowl at your own counter; chado has teachers and schools, and this is not a guide to it.
- How your tin tastes. No matcha here has been tasted or scored. The directory says who a producer is; a grade label reflects the market the producer sells into. No producer or retailer is affiliated with the site.
